Enom Founder Moves On

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)
Paul Stahura, who founded Enom, has announced that he will be leaving DemandMedia via his Facebook page:

"After much thought, and 12 years after founding eNom, I've decided to join the ranks of eNom alumni. Demand Media, the company I sold eNom to nearly four years ago, is a great company and will be even greater in the years to come. Truly "going big"... Huge. The board, the management team, the employees - everyone - our customers, our services, are top notch.Demand is still in the first innings, but its time for me to move on. I look forward to working with Demand in the future, just not as an employee, and to keeping in touch with you all. Very best of luck to everyone at eNom and Demand Media! So long for now, Paul"

It's not clear at this stage what Stahura is planning, but I somehow doubt if he'll simply "vanish". Paul has been heavily involved with the growth of the domain name business for over a decade.

Best of luck to him in his new endeavours

Enom and Netsol Win WIPO Case

|
enom-logo.gif
Enom and Network Solutions won a WIPO case involving the domain "nameje.com".

The domain is a very close typo to "namejet.com", which eNom and others use for an aftermarket service.

Full details of the case may be found on the WIPO site

Solidhost Saga Continues

|
solidhost-logo.jpgI mentioned the issue facing Solidhost a while back. Although the legal proceedings are still ongoing the Dutch company have managed to regain control of the domain name in the interim.

In a post on the company's forum Andre van Vliet was very candid about what was going on:

As of today we have recovered our domain solidhost.com - it now belongs to us again and is completely under our own control.

The lawsuit against the registrars and hijacker is not over yet, however through a premilary injunction the court has decided that we have provided more than enough evidence that the domainname is our property. The hijacker has a few more days to respond to the lawsuit in order to object this decision, but we do not expect him to respond at all (as he would then also have to identify himself).

Until the case is over, I'm afraid I cannot share any information about the claims for recovery of our damages (resulting from the hijack). Needless to say - as soon as we are able to - more information about this will be posted later.

Enom Revamps

Enom, which is part of DemandMedia, has relaunched their main site with a brand new design and interface.

The new site appears to have a simpler interface and also appears to be a bit more responsive in terms of load times.

Solid Host To Sue Enom and Namecheap

|
solidhost-logo.jpg
Normally when I see headlines about companies suing registrars I have to read "more" to find out what has happened.

In the case of SolidHost that isn't the case, as I've been following this story quite closely over the last couple of weeks.

Around 7pm on August 4th Solidhost sent their clients an email saying that their site was unavailable as the domain had been hijacked.

They also informed clients that they would be providing information on an alternative site.

There's a post over on their forum, as well as a very very long thread over on WHT

Enom Targetted By Phishers

|
Enom, one of the largest registrars in the world, has been targetted by phishers.

The company has posted an alert on the main page of their website with a screenshot of the fraudulent site.

It's good to see them being public about this sort of attack, though it is worrisome nevertheless

NameJet Launched

|
logo_namejet.gif
Today marks the launch of NameJet which replaces eNom's auction service.

If  you have an eNom login you can use it on the new site.

In terms of functionality the site seems to offer pretty much the same set of features that were available via eNom, however it is one ugly website!

The search function is currently not working for me, so it's not much use, though I'd suspect that they'll get that fixed pretty quickly

For people who haven't much experience with how drop catching and the aftermarket works they've provided a simple overview of the system which is worth looking at.
