ICANN's 37th public meeting, which is to be held from March 7th to March 13th 2010, is to take place in Kenya.Kenya had previously been slated to act as host for a meeting in 2008, but due to security concerns the slot was re-allocated.
ICANN meetings are meant to be open and accessible etc., etc., so there are funds available to help people attend.
But what happens when people abuse the system?
The ICANN Ombudsman issued a report about one such attempted abuse and it is abundantly clear that people "trying it on" will not get away with it.
ICANN is an international "not for profit". How someone can think of trying to rip the organisation off for a few hundred dollars is disgraceful (though I'd love to know how much the Ombudsman's decision cost - was it more than the amount of money in question? I suspect it was... )

I mentioned that ICANN would be meeting in New Delhi early next year a couple of weeks ago.
They've since made it official
I sincerely doubt if I'll be able to make it all the way to New Delhi, as I'm planning on heading to DomainFest in LA as well next year, plus the Paris meeting is already on my calendar!
